Bmw Sauber Completes Practice Session For Monaco Grand Prix
Bmw Sauber Completes Practice Session For Monaco Grand Prix
The fifth race of the Formula One season is coming up and teams are already busy preparing for the most prestigious race of the season. The 2007 Monaco Grand Prix will be held at the city streets of the famed Monte Carlo and La Condamine. The narrow tracks of the circuit is the main concern for drivers and mechanics alike since unlike other circuits where power is the most needed the Circuit de Monaco demands good traction from the vehicle and superb driving skills from the driver.
Team BMW Sauber after four fourth place finishes after the first four races of the season has just completed two days of practice sessions. The two drivers for the team Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica are among the busiest drivers during the practice sessions after covering 150 laps between tem.
The team is focusing on the tires since they greatly need the traction to tackle the narrow tracks. While the tires are given greater emphasis other parts of their cars such as the suspension and of course the engine and its BMW distributor rotor and other engine components are also checked for the upcoming race. After the practice sessions Kubica told reporters about the steps they have taken during the practice session. It was quite a good day as we did a lot of testing the Polish driver said. We concentrated mainly on the long runs to how the tires were behaving because this morning we had quite a lot of graining. We changed the setup of the car to improve it and in fact in the afternoon we put the new set of tires on early just to run them in the end on long runs. We have to work a bit on the setup and chose the best compromise. Now we are waiting for Saturday for the weather as some forecast predict rain.
Meanwhile teammate Nick Heidfeld had had some troubles during the practice session which he shared with reporters after the practice runs. My lap times don’t look good but it isn’t that bad says Heidfeld. I had problems with the fuel pressure and of course when the engine cuts out it costs time. Apart from this both sessions went well and in the morning the track had a surprisingly high amount of grip. Today we have tested both tire compounds properly.
The team is currently third in the team standings. During the last race of the season at the Spanish Grand Prix Heidfeld was unable to finish due to gearbox problems but the team has already taken care of that and it looks like BMW Sauber is ready for the Monaco Grand Prix.

Tesoro Fuel Refiner Sues To Block Ethanol Increase In California
Tesoro Fuel Refiner Sues To Block Ethanol Increase In California
More often than not the phrase frivolous lawsuit is somewhat redundant. Such is the case with San Antoniobased fuel refiner Tesoro which has filed a lawsuit in California to block a regulation that would boost ethanol consumption in the state by 2010.
The company which operates refineries in Los Angeles and the city of Martinez says the new fuel specifications could conflict with the states push to cut greenhouse gas emissions and could have ramifications for the environment and U.S. food prices.
The New Fuels Alliance a group that includes the the California Renewable Fuels Partnership calls the suit a blatant attempt by Tesoro to try to use the regulatory and legal process to gain competitive advantage in the market place.
A statement by the alliance continued Other oil companies are moving toward increased ethanol use to extend gasoline supply lower cost and even increase profits. Tesoro didnt see this market shift coming and is now trying to gum up the works based on a feigned and disingenuous concern about climate change and food prices.
The LA Times blog GreenSpace notes rightly that the text of the lawsuit filed in Sacramento Superior Court says precious little about Tesoros worries over food supply and prices. Rather the companys core complaints are that California Air Resources Boards new rule: takes effect too quickly forces companies to pay for emissions offsets if they dont meet the 2010 deadline and requires expensive refinery modifications that might not be compatible with Californias stillevolving Low Carbon Fuel Standard.
Reporter Elizabeth Douglass concludes The problem for Tesoro and other refiners is that the whole move to biofuels is eating away demand for its products. That might have something to do with the companys sudden concern about ethanols impact on the environment and the nations food supply.
Nice to see even the LA Times can see through this charade.

Water Car Run On Watergas- Hydrogen Car To Save Money
Water Car Run On Watergas- Hydrogen Car To Save Money On Gas
Are the gas prices hurting your pocket? Most people will agree that its becoming too expensive to run your car as the gas prices incessantly continue getting higher. You may have heard about the hydrogen gas water system to improve your cars performance. This is a simple yet very important way to increase your cars MPG reduce emissions and increase performance for your carusing water gases.
The car on water sustem includes a simple hard glass container with 3 holes on the lid. Two of these holes hold a negative and a positive terminal leads which are wrapped with aluminium coils. These produce an electric current which passes through the water and by electrolysis releases the gases found in water HHO.
Some baking soda is added to act as a catalyst and speed the rate of release of water gas. A third hole is fixed with a rubber tubing that collects the HHO gas and releases it into the engines air intake vent through a small close fitting insertion.
Since Hydrogen expands 1800 times more times and releases far more energy than gas it means the gas is at any one time more in volume than gas inside the combustion chamber. The result is that more of the H and O gases get burnt up than gasoline. You therefore will end up spending much more less of gas than when you are running on gas alone.
The system increases your cars efficiency in burning gas and also uses less of it than when its inefficiently burning fiel. Water propelled cars also have reduced noise levels and run smoothly than normal gas only cars. The system is known to reduce emissions and can be easily installed to pass the smog test.
Your cars reduced emissions means that you will in your own way be preventing global warming by using cleaner energy sources.
Some people that have installed the system in their cars have actually managed to achieve more mileage per gallon MPG of gas to a level of 60 and more. The smaller the car the more MPG you can squeeze out of it per litter of gas.
Water powered gas car system DIY manuals are available online. Some of the good manuals are very well illustrated with pictures engine cross sections equipment required step by step hydrogen gas car system installation and testimonials from people that have successfully used it.
