7 Ways To Beat Rising Gas Prices And Save Money

7 Ways To Beat Rising Gas Prices And Save Money

Rising gasoline prices are draining our wallets faster than ever before. Unless you get lucky by winning the lotto or brave by asking for a raise or promotion you better do something or anything you know that will stretch the mileage on each and every gallon of gasoline you buy.

We dont have control over the cost of gasoline but we do have control over the way we drive and how we maintain or vehicles. Here are seven ways to maximize the fuel we put in our tanks and save money each time we drive.

1. Shop around…

Prices can vary among different gasoline stations that are within a few blocks between themselves. You could be losing money because you are loyal to one gas station.

2. Use Selfservice…

Get into the habit of pumping your own gas using the selfservice pump. Full service pumps will cost you at least twenty cents more per gallon. You can check your cars vitals easily yourself… Its something you dont need to do every time you fill it up.

3. Plan your trips…

Stop and go driving not only wears down your brakes sooner it also uses more gas. Starting a car takes more gas than having it run for longer distances. If you are planning to do errands go to your farthest away destination first to allow your engine to run on optimum fuel efficient temperature and end your trip with the stop thats closest back home.

4. Avoid jackrabbit starts…

Getting a car into motion from a complete stop uses more fuel than while it is already in motion. Forceful acceleration isnt necessary to get your car rolling and only wastes gasoline.

5. Dont warm up your vehicle…

Todays cars with improved ignition systems dont require a long warm up period. You should just start driving off to your destination immediately. Engines that just sit on idle uses up fuel that could have been used to get you to your next stop.

6. Get a tune up…

Engines that are well tune will burn the fuel and air mixture they use for combustion most efficiently. Faulty sparkplugs may not burn the fuel as thoroughly. Changing oil and air filters will also improve your engines life and performance.

7. Maintain proper tire pressure…

Tires maintained with the recommend air pressure not only wear longer and drive better but also helps your engine use less gas.

Use these seven tips to improve your vehicles gas mileage and save money at the gas pump.
